June
Acrylic on box canvas, 30,5 x 30,5cms / 12 x 12 inches (2006)On a peaceful day, a girl goes for a walk in her garden ,butterflies come to welcome her, flapping their colorful and sparkling wings.
2 weeks ago Eric, Steve and I went to visit Steve’s mum, June, to the hospice where she was spending her last days. It was the first and the last time I saw her. A sweet and creative woman whom I would have liked to meet in depth.
Butterflies are a symbol of rebirth, renewal and happiness. A reminder of how beautiful but also fragile is life itself. This painting is in memory of June.
