It's difficult to paint when you have a small baby, so I just had to relax a bit and leave my brushes in the corner for a while.
Time has passed very quickly, Bjorn has grown a lot, is following a good routine and sleeps well, therefore I have some time and space to paint which makes me sooooo happy!.

A dear friend of mine, Daniela, passed away in 2004 at the age of 22. It was very sad to hear the news, she was a wonderful person, very lively and affectionate.

When she passed away I was single and had no children, maybe because of that I didn't understand (completely) the immense suffering of her parents, their loss.
I've thought a lot about Daniela and her parents since my son was born....now I understand and I'm able to feel their pain as if it was mine. By contemplating my son, I can see clearly that there is no suffering greater than the one of loosing your own child.

This painting is in memory of Daniela, she was (and still is) an angel, someone who radiated light and joy.

I wanted to translate into art what I think was her message for the family and friends....that she's not "gone", she's with us forever.

There was a poem that she loved:

INSTANTS (Jorge Luis Borges)

"If I could live again my life,

In the next - I made my own set of runes with ceramic, then with wood.
I have used them as an oracle, fascinating!.
Now that I live in the land where the runes were born I have connected with them again.

About the runes:

"The Runic alphabets are a set of related alphabets using letters (known as runes), formerly used to write Germanic languages before and shortly after the Christianization of Scandinavia and the British Isles.

The earliest runic inscriptions date from ca. 150, and the alphabet was generally replaced by the Latin alphabet with Christianization, by ca. 700 in central Europe and by ca. 1400 in Scandinavia. However, the use of runes persisted for specialized purposes in Scandinavia, longest in rural Sweden until the early 20th century (used mainly for decoration as runes in Dalarna and on Runic calendars).

The earliest runic inscriptions were certainly not coherent texts of any length, but simple markings on artifacts (e.g. bracteates, combs, etc.), giving the name of either the craftsman or the proprietor, or, sometimes, remaining a linguistic mystery. Because of this, it is possible that the early runes were not so much used as a simple writing system, but rather as magical signs to be used for charms, or for divination. The name rune itself, taken to mean "secret, something hidden", seems to indicate that knowledge of the runes was originally considered esoteric, or restricted to an elite."
(Extract from Wikipedia)

*Note:
If you're interested to purchase this original painting or a limited edition print on paper or canvas, please send me an e-mail

Gathering in the Big Blue

<img style="DISPLAY: block; I started to imagine life through their eyes.

The paintings from left to right:

- Flirt Pussy Cat : (8 x 8 inches) I was inspired in Blanquita, she´s a very sweet, feminine cat. She poses for the camera and is always waiting for someone to stroke her.

- The White Glove's Cat: (12 x 12 inches) A very elegant cat!. Many cats have fur marks that seem to be gloves or socks :o)

- I'm the Queen : (8 x 8 inches) Cats know they're very special at home, many of them live like kings and queens!, the one in this painting is a QUEEN :o)

- Cat Hallucinations : (24 x 24 inches) I still remember when I was feeding my cat (who lives now with my mum),each evening there was a special treat for her, which was a sort of concentrated fish paté... right after I opened the can, she showed up in the kitchen, smelling and savouring in advance. Her face was so funny!, that smell was driving her crazy I guess. That made me imagine her and other cats having hallucinations, lots of fishes flying around their head :o)

- Cat's Day: (8 x 8 inches) Who hasn't celebrated their cat's B'day?...or better said... their Cat's Day? :o)

- It's not my fault After that, I bought a great book called "Mandala: Journey to the center" from Bailey Cunningham and started to make my own design, I started my own journey...
This first mandala was entitled: 'Heaven's Abundance' and it represents a personal state of deep gratitude and appreciation towards life. Lots of unexpected and fantastic things were happening to me by that time. It was like a "rebirth".

What is a mandala?

"The pattern of creation:
The word "mandala" is from the classical Indian language of Sanskrit. Loosely translated to mean "circle," a mandala is far more than a simple shape. It represents wholeness, and can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life itself, a cosmic diagram that reminds us of our relation to the infinite, the world that extends both beyond and within our bodies and minds.
Describing both material and non-material realities, the mandala appears in all aspects of life: the celestial circles we call earth, sun, and moon, as well as conceptual circles of friends, family, and community.
"The integrated view of the world represented by the mandala, while long embraced by some Eastern religions, has now begun to emerge in Western religious and secular cultures. Awareness of the mandala may have the potential of changing how we see ourselves, our planet, and perhaps even our own life purpose."
(From Mandala: Journey to the Center, by Bailey Cunningham).

* To read more about mandalas, please visit: The Mandala Project
